Other Design Work
Over the years, my mediums have changed, but core principles and common themes remain at the heart of my work:
-
What is essential?
-
How can we minimize our impact on the planet’s resources?
-
How do we solve real human needs?
-
How can we create designs that are both functional and beautiful?
How It All Connects
Many Mediums, One Process
I was drawn to UX because it provides a structured approach to design — one that emphasizes process, iteration, and validation. But these principles apply to any medium.
Simplicity + Beauty + Meaningful Need
Clothing Design
Eileen Fisher, a certified B Corp, has been a leader in sustainable, circular design, using responsibly sourced materials and pioneering programs like garment repairs, buyback and resale of pre-worn pieces, and reworking damaged clothing into new designs.
My work at Eileen Fisher focused on creating simple, timeless silhouettes designed to last, be repaired, and be remade into new pieces. My designs were featured in high-profile publications including Harper’s Bazaar, W, InStyle, Oprah, The New Yorker, The New York Times, and Vogue.
The System
One of my key focus areas was the Eileen Fisher System of Dressing, a modular collection of mix-and-match tops and bottoms that simplify dressing and reduce the need for excess clothing.
Each piece complements without overpowering and pairs effortlessly with almost anything.
Meaningful Need + Beauty
Native Landscape Design
The climate crisis can feel overwhelming and beyond an individual's control. After years of city living, I moved to a semi-rural, agricultural community and had a yard for the first time as an adult. Through research, reading, and seminars, I discovered the vital role native plants play in restoring ecosystems.
Replacing invasive species and transforming a conventional lawn into a native habitat is a step toward creating a "Homegrown National Park." After designing and converting my own yard, I now create native plant landscape designs for others.
